“Okay…” Cam nods his head despite Eri’s near incoherent speech, and he decided not to question the other until later. Now that Eri was back he was not about to lose him again, no matter what it took.
He guided Eri to his room, well what had been the guest bedroom when Eri lived there. Cam could barely stand to stay in his old room after Eri left, so he gave the room to the young teen who was currently staying with him- Damien. He helped Eri into bed and pulled the blankets around him before he stood there, hovering worriedly over him.
“What do you need?” he asked softly, wondering if he should get food, water, or medicine to help Eri with whatever what ailing him.
Eri helps as best he can to walk, though he does lean on Cam quite a lot, luckily the young mutant’s a lot stronger than he looks. He smiles softly, leaning his head against the other’s shoulder and closing his eyes, not noticing that they weren’t going into the same room as they’d always been in. It was the guest room, but he was too out of it to even think about that now. Eri kicks off his shoes clumsily, before relaxing into the sheets.
He rolls over and coughs, eyes closing and face contorting with pain for a long moment. Eri wipes his mouth, before settling back down and turning his head to look at Cam, reaching for him. “N-Nothing… Just… You…” He murmurs, taking Cam’s hand and gently tugging at it so that he’d sit down on the bed. “Please…” He murmurs, tugging again and exerting all his left of strength to pull Cam down to lie next to him so that he could have him cuddled close. “I… Love… You…” Eri whispers, voice faint and far off as he kisses Cam’s temple and his eyes close, passing out, before he could hear a response, if there was one.
Cam stumbles slightly as Eri’s weight- his familiar, warm, heavy weight- is suddenly on him, but he manages to support the other as the tears start to fall from his cheeks. Confusion and pain battle with the coherent thoughts of his brain as he hesitates to wrap his arms around the other man, but before he can argue with himself his arms wrap tightly around Eri, clinging to the back of his shirt tightly.
“Eri…” Cam’s voice cracks as emotions swell in his chest as he realizes finally that Eri is really back. He’s holding Eri, the warmth is real, and his nuzzling, his heart beat, his everything is real.
Cam blinks back the tears as best he can as Eri’s arms around him slacken, and it finally occurs to him that something is wrong. “Eri?” He asks, his voice a tad more even then before as he pulls him inside, shutting the door with one hand before returning it to Eri’s back. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” he asks, suddenly feeling panic start to rise in his chest.
Eri can’t help how much he likes having Cam cling to him like this. He’d missed absolutely everything about the other, his face, his body, his voice, his eyes, his lips, his smell, his warmth, his blush… Everything that made Cam, Cam he’d missed, but it was only now that the extent of it came rushing back to him. He could feel the tears stinging his eyes as he tries to keep the open and to just focus of Cam’s beautiful face. He wanted to remember it… All of it.
Once they were inside, Eri feels a little more safe, a tiny bit more sure of himself, at least Cam wasn’t turning his back on him. He’d had very little doubt that the other wouldn’t help, but it was enough to have him worrying, but he was glad to have the other at his side once more. “Just… Just… Nothing… Sleep… Sleep’s good…” Eri mumbles faintly, not making much sense, but enough to know that Eri needed to lie down. And soon, or he’d end up dying of exhaustion. He needed to give his body as much rest as possible to ensure that it was given the means to fight of the Darkness that was serving as a poison to his lungs.
Cam jumps slightly as he hears the doorbell to his apartment ring. It seemed like an odd time of the night for someone to come over unannounced, but Cam wasn’t the type of person to ignore someone at his door. So he got up from where he was curled up on his couch reading a book, dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt, and answered the door with a bright smile.
“Hi there, what can-” and in a flash Cam’s smile disappears. Everything in him comes to a stop, and his mind goes completely blank as he stares at Eri, too shocked to believe what he’s seeing. He’d just gotten back into a rhythm. He’d just started to feel like himself again… so how could…
“E…Eri?” Cam asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Eri looked so real… he looked in rough shape, but so real… Cam’s hand reached out to touch Eri’s cheek, testing just how really the ex-prince was. Something inside of him twisted painfully as his fingers met flesh, warm, real, soft skin, and tears rose in his eyes. “Eri?”
Eri has to lean heavily against the door frame to even be able to keep himself standing. His brain was fuzzy and his vision blurred as less and less oxygen gets to his lungs. It was all he could do to keep himself still and dragging in breathes and just wait… Wait for his love to open the door and let him in. Or even just to say his name. That would be enough.
When the door opens and the ex-prince forces his eyes to open and focus on the man before him. He stumbles forward and leans into him, arms winding around him for support. “Cam…” Eri gasps out, clinging to him to keep himself upright. He leans into the touch, the hesitant fingers serving as enough affection to bring a tightening to his chest, but the right kind as he swells up with love. “I… I told you… I’d… Fight… For… You…” Eri breathes in between pants, it becoming increasingly hard for him to breath. He nuzzles into Cam, eyes closing and his arms slackening just a fraction- his strength dwindling. He was home… And that’s all that mattered.
A tall and muscular frame was hunched over, breathes passing through his lips in shallow, desperate gasps. It felt like he was drowning, like his lungs were filled with cold waves of water and each second breath brought forth a fit of coughs. The sort of wet coughs that were meant to free the lungs of water, but nothing came up because he was being suffocated by forces that were not under his own control. He was powerless and that hurt more than the thought of dying in such a way. He was being suffocated by his own power that coursed through his veins.
Eri had turned his back on his family, his heritage, his power… Everything to be with the man he’d given up. He didn’t even know if the other still wanted him, but it didn’t matter. He’d promised he’d fight for them and that’s what he’d done. The prince had gone home for around a month and that had been far too long, he had to be home… But not his place of birth, but home. However, fighting his family had driven them to disowning him; which wasn’t a good thing. Not at all. Well, for his species at least. Disowning a Son/Daughter of Darkness causes the Darkness within them to fight against their mortal form and most likely than not caused death in most. It’d taken all of Eri’s will to get him back to the Mortal World.
Eri had to see him… Had to see his Cam… If he could just do that, he’d be able to die happy. Though, there was still a chance that he’d survive. The only problem being, if he did… He’d become mortal. There wouldn’t be anything extraordinary about him, he’d just be another regular Joe, but he could live with that, right? If it meant living the rest of his days with Cameron. It was just getting to him, though.
The prince, or rather ex prince, staggers down the alleyway, eyes darting about as he coughs heavily. Where was he exactly? It look familiar, it all looked familiar, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. It takes him several moments, but he wills himself down the road and sure enough there stood Cameron’s apartment complex. With a ghost of a smile, he stumbles up the stairs and presses down the doorbell to his apartment, hoping beyond that the other is in.
Cam leaned into kiss, trying to hold back his tears. He never realized how much he’d grown to love the taste and feel of Eri’s lips, against his, and now he knew this may near be the last. “i-i love you too…” He whispered, unable to speak any louder for fear od his voice cracking. “i love you so much… And… It’s… Its okay… Its…i live you…” He couldnt find any other words then that before he kissed him again, his gripping his shirt until his knuckles turned white.
Eri can’t help but lean more into Cameron, his arms tightening around him considerably. “I love you so much, baby… So… So much…” He mumbles against his lips, wiping at his cheeks and Cam’s, before they kiss again. Eri’s lips move against the other’s softly, slowly, deeply… He loved him, so much, he did and if he didn’t have to leave, well he wouldn’t. “I told you before… I don’t want to lose you, but… But I can’t have you waiting for me…” Eri’s voice was quiet, but firm, knowing that if he relented even a little, he’d take it all back and that wasn’t something he could do. “I don’t know when I’ll be back… And… And we can’t do this long distance…” He babbles, his eyes meeting Cam’s gaze and he tries to get him to understand with his eyes. “I… I can’t do that to you.”
Cam swallowed, and he could feel something in him starting to break. He made it sound like he was leaving for good, and something in cam knew that was what this was all leading to. “you… You’re coming back, right? Soon? R-right?” His voice trembled, betraying that he really knew why Eri was saying all this. “E-eri…” Already he could feel tears pooling in his eyes as his hands curled against the back of eri’s shirt, holding him close, not wanting him to leave him.
Eri swallows hard, his fingers curling even more into the back of Cam’s own shirt, his eyes squeezing even tighter shut. “C-Coming back..? S-Sure…” He mumbles, his lips pressing kisses to the top of Cam’s head. “S-Soon? I… I don’t know… I… I don’t think so…” He admits, hating the way that his eyes stung with tears. Though, they didn’t linger in his eyes longer, before they were falling down his cheeks. Eri leans back a little, tilting up Cam’s chin and pressing their lips together, before resting their foreheads together. “I-I’m sorry… I-I love you… And… And I’m sorry…”
There was resignation in Eri’s gaze as he rubs tiredly at his face. He wasn’t necessarily tired physically, but emotionally? He was drained. He stares down at his feet as he clears his throat, gently pulling Cameron to him and kissing the top of his head. “I… I have to go home…” Eri whispers, voice muffled as he buries his face into the other’s hair. “…I’m sorry.”
Cam looks up at Eri as he leans into him, wrapping his arms around his waist. “what do you mean?” He asked softly as his stomach twisted apprehensively. “wait…” He remembered eri saying something about having to leave for a year if he went home, or something along those lines…
Eri’s hands settle at the small of Cam’s back, his lips pulled down into a frown and his brows furrowed completely. “Home… Y’know… Down under… The Darkness… Not… Not here…” He mumbles his eyes sliding shut as he presses a kiss to the top of the other’s head, his hands tightening into the material of his shirt. “My… Uh… There’s family problems… I have to leave…” He whispers, his chest tightening, “I have to leave… I’m… I’m sorry…”
There was resignation in Eri’s gaze as he rubs tiredly at his face. He wasn’t necessarily tired physically, but emotionally? He was drained. He stares down at his feet as he clears his throat, gently pulling Cameron to him and kissing the top of his head. “I… We need to talk…” Eri whispers, voice muffled as he buries his face into the other’s hair. “…I’m sorry.”
…What’s that look for?
